"Technology is so much fun, but we can drown in our technology. The fog of information can drive out knowledge." - Daniel J. Boorstin

We as information and knowledge managers, have the duty (no, the obligation!) to lift the fog. Are we doing that or are we contributing to the murkiness?

How do you create genuine knowledge and not just the illusion of it?

Who is working on PDF/H ? The Obama Administration has an immediate challenge of investing $19 billion to improve health and reduce growth in health care costs with information technology - note the second bullet item --> at this link <--. On April 30, 2009, The Markle Foundation released an interesting document proposing strategic priorities for the health IT provisions of the economic stimulus law. This was handed out at a gathering of health and IT leaders, congressional staff, and executive branch policymakers - its intent was to spark discussions on the critical issues around implementation of the ARRA provisions for health IT investments. The Markle Foundations objective is to sharpen understanding of what it will take to meet the law’s goals of improving health care quality, reducing growth in health costs, encouraging innovation, and protecting the privacy and security of data - sounds like a goldmine for PDF/H developers! Here is a link to this document --> Achieving the Health IT Objectives of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (PDF file is about 500k)
