About Me:
I'm the official AIIM Training Coordinator in South Africa. AIIM has been in SA for a while, but since last year NokusaEI have made a concerted effort with the various programmes. I would love to engage in discussions about Document Management in general and more specifically how to create an awareness among top level managers about the importance of what AIIM does and what they stand for. Hope to talk to you soon!

BPM – is it about software or process?

BPM. What does it stand for? What does it really mean? If this question were posed to 10 different people, there would surely be 10 different answers. BPM, BPI, BPA, BPR. What are all these acronyms? When do we use it? What are the similarities? Different strokes for different folks!

BPM. Is it about the software or the process? Ask the same 10 people and what will follow will be a lengthy debate no doubt. Some believe that BPM focuses exclusively on technology, while others believe the process… Continue

Before you select a document capture solution, consider...

Capture is not just scanning! Although capture software and automation technologies have dramatically improved in the past decade, the technology selection represents only a small part of the entire capture solution.

One should first understand document type definitions, document volumes, business processes, document lifecycles and the associated business costs, benefits and the performance impacts of applying these technologies.

A clear and coherent, capture strategy will go a long way toward… Continue

Turn paper forms into Adobe forms

[ Johannesburg, 1 June 2009 ] - Companies in today's day and age are constantly faced with the challenge of increasing profitability and efficiency while reducing operating costs. All this, while still maintaining customer satisfaction and ensuring governance and compliance. What companies tend to ignore is the fact that paper-based forms are keeping them back and increasing the cost of doing day-to-day business!

Paper-based processes have limitations and are costly to maintain. Costs are incre… Continue

ah, now I understand. Good Point ! Once in a while we must indeed turn 180degrees to look backward at what we are doing and the reason and goal behind it. Just because we can is not enough reason to do it.

the main question should indeed be 'what is knowledge for our organisation and how can we get this knowledge to the people who need it. The focus now is mostly on storage and search. But the focus should be on storing the right kind of knowledge and finding this knowledge. I can spend an entiry day searching but finding nothing relevant at all :)

Hi Lidia and Thanks;
Exactly I hope find free training for Tunisia Association executive members; Sothat we can organise a training session for ERM paractices and it will be free for the seveneth members and costed for other records managers. This will spendind much money to advertise this action.
Snd thing you told me about scanning, but ERM systems includes other technologies and paractises: architectal characteristics
of Captering, Register storage, transfer and archival plateforms; What we will do for that ?
