About Me:

I am a passionate knowledge management developer with a focus on creating sustainable user centered tools that encourage innovation and knowledge sharing without choking autonomy. I am currently the Information Services Director for The Miami Herald Media Co. in Miami, Fl where my primary role is to work in collaboration with diverse news content and technology groups to develop and execute knowledge management strategies for a growing digital collection.

I bring two years experience with building and implementing multiple Sharepoint enterprise sites for a diverse group of 400 reporters, editors and managers for both The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald.

My keen insight when producing dynamic, knowledge-rich sites stems from a background in database management and cognitive psychology. In a recent KM project I built and implemented a Sharepoint portal Intranet that both streamlined workflow and encouraged departmental collaboration. To achieve this I performed staff interviews geared towards understanding how employees found, stored and shared information, I developed an intuitive and flexible Information Architecture, conducted usability tests and search log analysis, wrote a end-user guide, and provided extensive training sessions for site editors and visitors. The end product is a metadata-driven corporate Intranet that enhances the way the organization uses and creates information by centralizing knowledge and allowing teams to share their expertise through departmental sites.
